The Great Raid

"The Great Raid has some awesome video shots in 1080p. The audio is excellent and clear. The movie is generally enjoyable but the plot drags in a few places. I have 3 Sony Blu-ray units displaying on a Sony 1080p LCD, a Pioneer 1080p Plasma & a Sony 1080p projection unit. The video is awesome on all three."

"Here is an action flix that belongs is everyone's DTD DVD collection. Loaded with action, great acting on all parts, the DTS sound was awe inspiring to say the least. GET IT, YOU'LL LOVE IT!"

The Great Raid

"This is a fantastic movie - however, the Blu-Ray edition is missing at least two scenes that are included as part of the movie in the widescreen DVD release. The first scene that is missing is where Connie Nielsen is making a deal for medicine in a warehouse. The deal goes bad, and a gun battle ensues. The second is when Connie Nielsen is attemping to pay money to get Fillipino refugees transported out of a soon-to-be-warzone. Why these scenes are not included in the Blu-Ray release of TGR is unexplained. They were good scenes and helped to move the story and develop Nielsen's character. Otherwise, a top-notch Blu-Ray release."

The River Wild

"An entertaining journey down a beautiful whitewater river with an age old theme of good vs evil. This is a good movie to just sit back and enjoy the ride even though as the plot develops you may feel bit uncomfortable. Meryl Streep is outstanding as usual, however I feel Kevin Bacon is even better as the deceptive, yet charming 'bad guy'. There is also some excellent acting by David Straithairn (who portrays Meryl Streep's husband) even though his character is annoyingly pathetic. The nature cinematography is spectacular and the high intensity musical score only adds excitement to the journey.I highly recommend watching this one on a home theater system with wide screen and DTS sound decoding."

The Great Raid

"I think this film is excellent, worthy of five stars. I am rating the DVD. Miramax is forcing people to buy the extra edition with the book, for $40 in stores. That is the only way to get the widescreen version. If you just want the widescreen DVD, you cannot get it. The bare-bones DVD (not even a trailer) comes only in fullscreen! I went all over town checking it out. Typical Miramax, over-pricing its DVDs. Watch out if you buy one of the their older DVDs, as many of them came only as non-anamorphic- that way, they could release another issue in anamorphic format. I hate that company."
