His mother is the Hungarian-born photojournalist Sylvia Plachy, and he attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and High School for the Performing Arts. Adrien grew up an only child in Woodhaven, Queens, where he accompanied his mother on assignments for the Village Voice. He credits her with making him feel comfortable in front of the camera.

The mystery of the man

"It has come to my attention that Adrien has not exactly been the most talk about man in celebrity news. A huge mistake. The best movie I saw recently that he was cast in, was The Village and he just blew my mind once more. This is a man that consumes an audience and somehow he keeps on sitting in the back row. Someone, please write this man a script to stir things up again. If I was a script writer, I would have done it myself. He has so much power in front of a camera and that mysterous gaze is wonderful to watch."
