Mario Lanza Mini Biography
Lanza was a high school dropout who worked in his family's grocery business, but his voice-a commanding tenor-could not be ignored. Upon auditioning for conductor Serge Koussevitzky in 1942, he earned a music scholarship, performed at the Berkshire Summer Music Festival and toured in concert.
After service in World War 2, Lanza signed a contract with MGM and starred in four films which successfully exploited his powerful voice and rugged good looks. In his first two he was teamed with Kathry... |
