Full Barbara Carrera Biography
| Feline, olive-skinned, and almond-eyed exmodel whose cool dark looks make her ideally suited to play seductive villainesses or exotic damsels. She made her feature-film debut in Puzzle of a Downfall Child (1970), but is probably best-known as sexy Fatima Blush in Sean Connery's 007 comeback film, Never Say Never Again (1983). As befits her limited acting ability, Carrera has been featured in mostly ornamental roles in such action or genre fare as The Master Gunfighter (1975), Embryo (1976), The Island of Dr. Moreau (1977), Condorman (1981), I, the Jury (1982), Lone Wolf McQuade (1983), Wild Geese II (1985), and Wicked Stepmother (1989). |

Additional Barbara Carrera Biography
Bárbara Carrera was born in Bluefields, Nicaragua, the daughter of a US ambassador and a Nicaraguan mother. She came to the U.S. at age eleven and began a career as a model at the Eileen Ford agency at the age of 17.
On the television screen, she played a part in the series Dallas as "Angelica Nero", and more prominently, she was in the historical 1981 TV miniseries Masada and the 1978 TV miniseries Centennial, which brought her to the mainstream attention of American audiences. She also starred as Emma Coe Forsayth in the television miniseries "Emma, Queen of the South Seas".
She was nominated for the Golden Globe for her role in Never Say Never Again in 1983 and in "Master Gunfighter" in 1973.
Barbara Carrera has married (and divorced) model Uva Barden, Baron Otto von Hoffman and Greek shipowner Nicholas Mavroleon. She has no children. At some point she was involved with scientology, but left shortly afterward. She is currently friends with journalist Cameron Docherty.
There is some uncertainty regarding her actual age. Her birth date is listed by various sources as 1945, 1947, or, more commonly, 1951. She apparently prefers to say 1953. |
